 SEWING

Sewing isn’t my favorite craft, but as I look over this page I have actually done (and enjoyed) quite a few projects.

Sundress for Taylor

Christy said Taylor had too many pink clothes so I made her sundress in blue. After all the quilting I have been doing I think sewing clothes was a bit easier than I remember. I knew enough to pick a very easy pattern anyway!

Curtains

For Taylor

This photo was taken when the curtains were temporarily hung in the "kids" room.

Once we found the giraffe material we had to have it, but there wasn't enough for the curtains so I added a matching rainbow to the top.

This is the button that holds down each of the tabs on the top of the curtain.

These are also temporarity hung in Powell River.

These aren't just cars, they are Corvettes.

I have grandchildren so it goes without saying that at some time I'll have made stuffed toys of some kind. The Raggedy Annes were made for my daughter and granddaughter one Christmas. I also made a Raggedy Andy for my grandson, but I don't seem to have a photo. I'll have to dig a little deeper and find one. I made five of the Easter Bunnies one year. I made another Raggedy Anne doll for Taylor for her first Christmas in 2010.

Smartie Pants (for Valentine's Day)

My best friend sent me a pair of Smartie Pants for Christmas, knowing that before long I'd be making them for my grandchildren. The legs of the pants are filled with Smarties. The pattern is small and it was a bit hard to get my fingers around all the seams, but for such a small item it sure takes a lot of Smarties to fill the legs. Although it is hard to see, the boys version doesn't have bows at the legs, whereas the girls version does. I had the Valentine material in my stash so it was a perfect occasion to use it.

Again, with grandchildren, come bibs. I've made so many of these I've lost count, and obviously lost the photos as well. I use washcloths that I find at my local loonie store and add the strings for the bibs. With the Canucks bib I needed to add a little so that I didn't spoil the logo.

It was my best friend who convinced me I could make a quillow for my Granddaughter. And I did, with a lot of help from her. The second one I had to make on my own and I ripped it out more times than I like to remember before everything was pointing the right way.

Again for the grandchildren - curtains.

Curtains 1   My grandson is a huge fan of "mighty machines" so I made these for him. A close up of the material is on the right.   Mighty Machines

My daughter and her husband have recently renovated their home so I made new curtains for some of their windows.

For my grandson who is almost 3 I chose fabric with letters and farm animals. Click on the fabric to see a larger image.
