I took the afternoon flight to Vancouver. I met Christy when she finished work and we took the train home together. The City, as expected, was Canuck crazy. There wasn’t much time to play before Taylor and Dylan got into their Batman pyjamas and were off to bed.

Fresh out of the tub and with her hair slicked back I couldn’t believe how much Taylor looks like Madison when she was little. |
Game Day and everyone was dressed in their game day attire, including the Wolfram/Atkinson house.
Dylan was at school and Christy and Rick were at work so Taylor and I had lots of time to play.
This is Taylor's favorite toy, inside and outside. |
Taylor loved pulling absolutely everything out of her toybox. After picking it all up a couple of times, Grandma got smart and plunked Taylor into the toybox where she was quite happy. |
Christy had the day off and, although it was raining, we walked into downtown Port Coquitlam. Not much has changed and it certainly didn’t feel like "home" any longer. We took the Poco Trail back to Christy's. Sadly the photo I took at the underpass didn't turn out. Because it was rainy there was no park visit today, but we had fun anyway.
Dylan is very good at playing with his little sister and he keeps her entertained and amused. |
Mommy's little helper! |
Rick had the day off so Christy and I walked over to Coquitlam Center to do a little shopping. Summer seemed like it had finally arrived and Taylor and Dylan needed some summer clothes. We got some nice clothes on sale – Dylan was happier to model his new clothes than Taylor was.

Grandma didn’t go all that way to buy clothes and nothing fun! Although the puzzle is rated 8+ Dylan had no problem getting it done. Taylor also got a puzzle but she does it on the run so there were no photos! |
Taylor likes nothing better than to get into her ball castle and tip it over. The result is that all 100+ balls come flowing out and then somebody has to pick them up. Rick and Dylan use cleaning up as their excuse for a bit of target practice with their hockey sticks. Taylor seems to like that idea as well.
Friday evening Rick, Christy and Dylan went to see a movie so Taylor and I went to the park for a play.
Swinging is Taylor's favorite thing to do at the park. |
Taylor walked quite a bit of the way across the park on her own. Here she is modelling the sweater Grandma made.
|
I finally made it to a fabric store. Dylan had originally thought he might come along with me, but a trip with Rick sounded more exciting to him. I think for him he made the right choice, but I certainly enjoyed myself. I can’t believe I have a purpose for all of this material.
These will be my Fat Quarter contribution for Hands Across the Water. They requested a "food" theme. |
I will use this material for my May Calendar quilt.
|
The black and Oriental material will be used to recreate one of my Blocks of the Month. The black will also be used for my Butterfly quilt. |
I will make a sun dress for Taylor from this material. Christy says Taylor has too many pink clothes. |
|
This Eye Candy (don't you just love the names they use for quilting) will be used for the May Calendar and Butterfly quilts. The familiar fabric on the end (I used it for Diane's wall hanging) will be used for the Hands Across the Water Challenge - a tea cozy. |
After lunch we were off to the park for some fun.

Be careful up there!

Who is that monkey? |
After Taylor's nap we all enjoyed the fresh air before settling in for the Canuck's game.

Two of my favorite girls!

Dylan was concerned when the City came by to clean up some of the "forest". Luckily they left enough branches that Dylan can still climb.
|
Rick got out the remote control car he built, much to the delight of Dylan and several other boys in the neighbourhood.

It was a lovely morning so we all took a walk along a different part of the Poco Trail system. I had often seen this trail leading off one of the major roads in Port Coquitlam but I had never been down it. Everything was so lush and green and, of course, our trip ended at a park.
My camera ran out of batteries so there aren't many photos to show for the rest of my stay.
Back to school and work for everyone except Taylor and I. We took a long walk over to Michaels, one of the shops I thought I really missed. Turned out I didn’t find anything there that interested me. Perhaps I have switched allegience from Michaels to fabric shops!
This was my last day to take Dylan to school, and I realized I didn't have a photo of him in his school backpack. He's not locked out (or locked in), he's just in the play area waiting for the bell to ring. He certainly has learned a lot in his year at Kindergarten. He can count to 100 by 1’s, 2’s, 10’s and I even taught him to count by 11’s.
Rick dropped Christy and I at the train station in the morning and she headed off to work and I headed home on the noon flight.
