Our flight into Powell River was right on time. We kept to our usual routine of dropping off our luggage (and marveling at our little home), going out for dinner, and then picking up groceries. Once the work was done we headed off to the View Point to watch the sun set.

After a pot of coffee at home we were ready to start the day. First stop was the internet cafe to check our e-mail and have breakfast. There was a quilting store I wanted to explore so we did a little browsing before heading off for a hike along the Penticton Trail.

We took a few turns along the trail and the "real" markers didn't seem clear so I called upon my Girl Guide training and marked the trail myself.
Everything in Powell River revolves around logging. This tree probably fell here and they just cut their way through it.
After the hike we hit a few local shops (Canadian Tire, Dollarama and Starbucks) before heading home for lunch. We pulled out our Adarondak chairs and ate lunch enjoying the sun (with a bit of wind) and the amazing ocean view. After a busy afternoon of relaxation and napping, we headed out to our favorite pub for dinner (and to see a bit of the hockey game). We always seem to end our evenings at the View Point, and tonight we watched the sun set from the water's edge.

We got a later start today so we had a quick breakfast and e-mail check at the bakery cafe. After breakfast, as we walked the Sea Walk we saw a beautiful Bald Eagle overhead, and a couple of seals out in the water. We were sitting on a bench wondering if the tide was coming in or going out and, since we had nothing more pressing to do, we just stayed on the bench until we saw a rock that wasn't there earlier and decided the tide was going out. After answering that burning question, we headed home for lunch, did our packing and then headed off to the historic Patricia Theatre for a matinee (see Movies). After the movie we had a bit of time before our flight so we walked down to Willingdon Beach. After sitting for a bit we took a short walk along the breakwater and out to the floating dock. Then it was off to the airport and, after a short 20 minute flight, we were back home.
