A few of my gift tags

Wednesday, December 26, 2018

I didn’t make many things this year and the few I made took much longer than I anticipated. I’ll have to start earlier next year (haven’t I heard that before?). Click on each photo to enlarge it.

I bought kits for the snowman and the Santa many years ago on a trip to Seattle with Stacia and Ron. The Santa took the longest to make so, after one of each was done, I stuck to the snowman.

Each snowman is different, depending on where on the chart I made the mistake!

I had kits from many, many years ago that I used for my Granddaughters. On a day when we lost power for several hours I used a portion of one of the patterns to make a gift tag on a hostess gift.

Happy Birthday Kristin

February 24, 2018

I wanted a butterfly on Kristin’s card as I was thinking of Lynne when I was picking out a pattern. I had a new-to-me cross stitch magazine and, surprisingly, this was the only butterfly I could find.

My finish on burlap still needs improving – getting the lines to match in the aida cloth and the burlap is more difficult than I thought.

I saved the photo on the right from somewhere online as I thought it looked interesting. When I was looking for a pattern for Taylor’s card I came across the photo and decided to add my own spin to it.

It was fun to make. I’ve never used a hoop as a frame before, although I’ve always really like the look of it. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be so I’ll try it again sometime.

At one point I thought the hardest part was sewing on those tiny buttons; as it turned out it was harder to get the frame around the piece.

This small stitchery was started, and mostly completed by Mum. When I moved all my cross stitch and embroidery projects to Texada I got a better look at which ones would be easy finishes, and this was the first that I tackled.

I did the framing myself. It fit nicely into a 5″x7″ frame.
