Happy Birthday Kathryn

January 4, 2023

from the Quilter’s Block-a-Day Calendar (June 20)

I thought when I first showed this block Kathryn commented that she really liked it. However when I went looking in my files there was another one that was very similar that had her name attached. Maybe she liked them both?

Kathryn is the recipient of that tablecloth that I was unable to get the stamped ink out of. I know I gave many of you a good laugh at my antics with the soap bubbles. Hopefully when Kathryn uses it she will appreciate the lengths I took to make if perfect.

The tablecloth with the stamped pattern was one of Mum’s that she hadn’t started. I wish I had paid more attention to stitching “on the lines” and I might not have had the bother with the ink.

Ornaments for the tree

To make these I added additional rows to some of the original Peppermint Purple stitch-along patterns. The edging is called the Nun stitch, which allows the edges to be frayed while keeping the stitching intact. For the most part, these were stitched in front of the fire on Texada.

Who’s doing the dishes tonight?

I picked up the patterns and fabric for these dish towels when we were shopping this summer after our sewing session at Panorama. I’m pleased with how they turned out – even the back doesn’t look too bad.

The package also included some dish cloths. Kathryn was busy knitting dish cloths when she visited this fall but I assure you they were already on my list before I saw hers. Each package also included some scrubbies that I got from a friend.

Going Somewhere?

I made luggage tags for everyone, including a couple for myself. They were a quick and easy project and for anyone waiting to spot their bags on a belt at the airport it is nice to have something unique to look for.

Perfect timing too as Christy and Kathryn head to Arizona for Christmas.
