Husky

When I lived in the North this was my favourite yarn. I can’t remember how many items I made from it but there were a lot of them. I remember that I made Dad a sweater one year for Christmas.

I didn’t have a lot of it left but what I had I used to make a few more hats in some of my favourite patterns. The bobble hats are from a pattern designed for the Husky yarn; the other two are patterns I’ve found online and have been using quite frequently regardless of the type of yarn I’m using.

These will go into my donation bin.

Cowls

I started on a new bin of yarn (actually it is one of Mum’s wicker baskets) and this chunky yarn was the first thing out of it. It was left from a sweater I made for Christy not too long ago. I made a matching one for Taylor but I haven’t come across any leftover yarn from hers (yet).

I thought I would have enough for a hat but when I finished the first ball I was worried I wouldn’t have enough to finish the pattern. At that point it was about the right size for a neck warmer or cowl.

The second ball had a bit more in it but not enough to finish the hat pattern. I decided the cowl was fast and easy so I made another one.

A scarf and hat

They aren’t a matching pair but they were finished back to back so got their photo done together.

Another garter stitch scarf and my favourite hat pattern. I modified the hat because the yarn was a bit lighter than normal; I added more stitches and modified the crown but it looks the same as they all do.

Both will go into the donation bin.

A shawl and some scarves

This is made from the yarn that I thought was a bit too fine to go into my scrap afghan. It makes a nice shawl but I needed to add a strip of white to make it long enough. It will make a nice wrap for someone out late celebrating Canada Day.

I had enough yarn left in my bin for a couple of scarves.

This one is the same pattern as I used for my afghan, just fewer stitches.

I tried a couple of different patterns for this blue scarf, and ripped out a couple of patterns too! I decided that simple was the best (and easiest) way to go so ended up with a garter stitch all the way through.

These will all be donations.
