Slippers and Scarf

Last Christmas I made scarves and mittens for Taylor and Dylan. As soon as Dylan saw Taylor’s scarf he said it was just like his blankie and he wanted me to make him one like hers. No problem Dylan.

Being the Grandma that I am I couldn’t send a parcel for Dylan without finding something for Taylor. I had seen this slipper pattern and thought this would be the perfect time to try it. The pattern worked out well, but when I sent them Taylor called to inform me “Grandma, slippers no fit”. So it was back to the drawing board to find another pattern.

There is a dearth of patterns available for kids. I could find lots of adult slippers and lots of the baby bootie variety but very few for kids, and none that were as cute as the first pair. I tried one or two patterns and decided I’d better just get something done before her foot grew another size.

Just like Mum’s

Just when I thought I had all my Christmas projects finished, Christy called to tell me that both Dylan and Taylor were very excited when she pulled out the scarf I knit for her last year. I asked her to check and see what colour they might want and, since I had the colours in my stash, I was able to get the sets done before we visited them at Christmas.

Dylan wanted his set done in green.

Taylor picked blue.

Socks (#2)

After seeing the socks for myself, Pat suggested that he might like a pair because there are no seams to bother his feet. I immediately thought I would try to get a pair finished for Christmas. I took them with me on my fall trip, but if it hadn’t been for a weekend trip that Pat made to Vancouver at the beginning of December they never would have been done.

I took the measurements from a pair in his drawer. They turned out to be a bit large, but he finds them quite comfortable.
