Just like Mum’s

Just when I thought I had all my Christmas projects finished, Christy called to tell me that both Dylan and Taylor were very excited when she pulled out the scarf I knit for her last year. I asked her to check and see what colour they might want and, since I had the colours in my stash, I was able to get the sets done before we visited them at Christmas.

Dylan wanted his set done in green.

Taylor picked blue.

Socks (#2)

After seeing the socks for myself, Pat suggested that he might like a pair because there are no seams to bother his feet. I immediately thought I would try to get a pair finished for Christmas. I took them with me on my fall trip, but if it hadn’t been for a weekend trip that Pat made to Vancouver at the beginning of December they never would have been done.

I took the measurements from a pair in his drawer. They turned out to be a bit large, but he finds them quite comfortable.

Mitts (for the Burtons)

These mitts with the ribbed gauntlets are my favourite for cold weather climates as they come way up the arm and stop snow from going up your sleeve when you’re playing in the snow. Emma likes them because they pull up over top of her jacket sleeves.

These mitts are much faster to knit. I assure you there are two of them, although it looks like I only photographed one!

Hats and Scarves

The school bus stops in front of Elizabeth’s house in Calgary. On my last trip, after the first major snowfall of the year, some of the kids were arriving at the bus stop without warm clothes. Elizabeth found enough scarves and hats to go around, but I thought she would probably need more to get her (and the neighbours) through the winter.

It looks like Gavin’s ears will be warm this winter.

The patterns are combinations of a couple of things I found on the internet. I wanted to use up some of my scrap wool, but it didn’t seem to make much of a dent in my basket.
