Happy Birthday Taylor

Hearts-a-Flutter (from the Splendid Sampler series)

I didn’t think I had anything in my card bin that would work but I decided to check just in case. After my cleaning-up sessions I had a bit of trouble finding where my card bin had moved to! I was happy that there was still something in there that would work.

In spite of not having the best shopping options in Powell River there is a store that stocks the Dutch sprinkles that are a favourite of Taylor’s. A collection of those went into her gift bag.

Album Block (from the Quilters’ Block a Day Calendar – March 2)

A couple of years ago I made small blocks that fit under Kathryn’s glass cutting board – one for each month. I thought perhaps she was ready for a new one so her card is a bit larger than most.

The pink fabric came from Diane and I quilted it with my standard stars in the squares. It wasn’t until I was showing it off that I realized on two of the squares I had missed the final points. Fortunately it was an easy fix.

For the Grandkids

By now all the grandchildren pretty much know they will be getting a gift card for Christmas. But to make it a bit more exciting I added a little something to each of their bags.

I had to wait for the gift cards to arrive so I started making bags and tags. As it turned out the cards arrived before I was finished but they were an easy project so it didn’t delay getting them into the mail.

Christmas Lights (from the Splendid Sampler series)

I made at least one of these last year and repeated the pattern several times this year.

Mug Rugs

I knew I wanted to make a few mug rugs this year but I had to look hard to find a pattern that would work with Christmas fabric and that had a pocket to tuck something into. I tried fitting chocolate into the pocket but the bars were too long and thick to fit nicely so I ended up with a tea bag and one of Pat’s download cards.
