Happy Birthday Vicki

July 26, 2024

Pattern from The Polka Dot Chair

I adjusted the July mug rug pattern a bit after making Christy’s card. However, I’d already done the embroidery work so even when it is trimmed down it is still an odd shape. Another time I will leave the embroidery off and just use the hexagons.

Vicki has been a friend since my earliest days in Yellowknife. Our kids grew up together and we even inherited her cat (Tigger) who was with us for many, many years.

We haven’t seen each other often in the past couple of years but now that I’m traveling again I hope that will change.

Happy Birthday Stacia

July 17, 2024

I purchased sewing-themed panels and charms many years ago with the intention of quilting them, sewing on the charms, and using them as wall hangings – one for Stacia, one for Deloise and one for me. Earlier this year I made stitching pillows for each of us.

I had some fabric pieces remaining as well as all the charms so as soon as I finished the pillows I set them aside for birthday cards.

I used a stitch holder (from knitting) as a hanger – something I saw on Facebook.

Happy Birthday Elizabeth

July 2, 2024

On our trip to Calgary for Asher’s graduation, Elizabeth asked for microwave bowls in a fabric that I used for someone else’s birthday card – the pink daisies obviously. Since her birthday was coming up I decided to make the bowls her “card”.

My original plan was to use the daisy fabric for the outside of the bowl and the sunflower fabric for the inside but the two really didn’t go together so I made one bowl from each fabric. The first set of bowls I made were quite small so I made two more larger ones.

I was in a rush to get the parcel in the mail so I didn’t get a photo of the full sets but Elizabeth sent me a picture.
