Happy Birthday Ray

June 12, 2023

from the Stoney Creek Cross Stitch Collection (July/August, 1993)

I usually try to find something fish related for Ray’s card but a quick search on my computer didn’t bring up anything that would work for this year. When the reminder for the card came up on my computer though I had made a note of a pattern in one of my magazines that might work. Several months ago I started going through my magazines and marking ones I wanted to make and divesting of any that didn’t have something I wanted to make. It took a bit of searching to find the pattern book but eventually I was successful.

I did all of the stitching for this at the Lodge in Vancouver. It took a trip to two different Michael’s to get the floss that was missing from my collection.

I only used a portion of the pattern so I will be able to make at least two more cards for the following years.

Happy Birthday Peggy

Centered (from The Splendid Sampler series)

Lots of centering going on in this card and lots of points – I don’t think I have cut too many of them off. The colours are bright and cheerful and I hope Peggy’s day is as bright and cheerful. With the numbness in my fingers I am certainly making use of the pinking rotary cutter Stacia gave me (and the card making goes much faster).

Happy Birthday Audrey

The Early Bird (from The Splendid Sampler series)

By the time Audrey’s birthday comes around I hope all the robins are back and Spring has arrived in Saskatchewan.

Focal Point (from the Splendid Sampler series)

Not really sure what I can tell you about this card as I pulled it out from my completed tops and don’t actually remember making it.

I think that the colours look very spring-like and I think Saskatchewan is more than ready for Spring.
