Before we left on our trip there were a few blueberries ripe enough to pick and eat off the bush. Our next door neighbour was looking after the house and yard when we were away and I told her to watch for ripe blueberries and strawberries. Pat was chatting with Evangeline over the fence yesterday and she said they enjoyed berries almost every day.
Pat picked blueberries yesterday and we had vanilla yogurt with fresh blueberries for breakfast. Tonight for dinner we’re having blueberry upside down cake made with what was left of the berries. There are still a few berries ripening on the bush so there may be some left for Alex and Will to pick.
We were at the garden centre this afternoon and stocked up on flowers for our pots and baskets. Pat got everything planted and I followed behind with the watering can and picking up empty pots and boxes and sweeping the soil that spilled over. We’ve got a few tomato plants and some peppers (thanks to Elizabeth) growing; Pat transplanted our long-neglected Christmas Cactus and added fresh soil to another indoor plant collection.
Pat is off to hear some music tonight – we’ve been here almost six years and never been to The Red Lion Pub but it seems to be the happening place for music these days. I’ll be packing and getting ready for my trip tomorrow.
