All kinds of happy

April 13, 2016

I mentioned a few days ago that Stacia and I discussed our UFO issues. A day or so later Deloise chimed in and her point of view is that if the UFOs aren’t troubling you, and if they still make you happy, don’t worry! Today I followed Deloise’s philosophy. The fabric shop up the street had a sale and, although I didn’t need anything, I came home very happy!

Apr 13 - 1I’ve had my eye on this Fat Quarter bundle for awhile now and today I couldn’t resist. Why? I may use it for my I’m a Farmer’s Daughter quilt; Stacia and I had been chatting about the fabric I purchased and we think it might be too busy. I love love love reproduction fabrics. The bundle is called “Pinafores and Petticoats” and you can’t fight that! Also it was 20% off.

Apr 13 - 2At 70% off these fabrics were almost free! I’ll use the red/blue/green as binding for the quilt I’m fixing for a friend, and the neutral Christmas trees can be used for lots of projects.

Apr 13 - 3I was in the shop the day this musical notation fabric was unpacked! It is meant to go with a panel made up of musical instruments but the panel never arrived. As a neutral it will work in a lot of projects. I was going to buy two metres but Kathleen, one of our quilting regulars, said that people now say you should purchase three metres of “on spec” fabric. Fortunately this was 20% off.

Apr 13 - 4This afternoon I started work on the Guild’s Block of the Month – the new Wednesday project in my new schedule! There were a lot of groans when we saw we needed 50 four-patch blocks this month. The 4-Patch is made up of two plain squares and two half-square triangles; that amounts to 100 HSTs and 100 squares. I used the Magic 8 method for the HSTs and they are finished and waiting to be trimmed. I have more cutting to do for the plain squares.

We’re off to the movies tonight.
