What a great day

I don’t recall what the weather was like at the beginning of the month, but judging from the weather today March is going to go out like a lamb. I think it is time to put away the winter sweaters and bring out the summer clothes. My “Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” book had me putting my summer clothes away in a drawer; I have tons of room for my entire wardrobe to hang in the closet so I’m not sure why, out of all her ideas, that is the one I followed through on!

I had a busy day yesterday and the time got away on me so I didn’t write my usual journal. I had prepped several patterns on Sunday night – the rest of my April cards and two Farmer’s Wife blocks.

Although the two Farmer’s Wife blocks looked simple enough in the book, I had a lot of trouble with the process. I paper-pieced one of them and then when I went to square it up I was missing bits in three places. I was able to undo the seams, add a bit more fabric and then stitch the seam closed again. When I started this project and had something that didn’t work out I’d start over; I’ve obviously learned a few “cheats” along the way. That and realizing that a couple of odd seams in a 6″ block isn’t going to show much once it is quilted.

By the time I finished these two blocks Pat was calling me for supper; right after supper I was out the door to Ukulele Club.

The remaining three cards went with me to the bee today along with my “real” project which is a reverse appliqué started almost three years ago from a Guild class. In all the time I was there I only managed to get one card done! It is larger than most of my cards and even though it is all straight lines I had a great deal of trouble with it. It says something about the number of seams I ripped out when the main finishes of my day were lots of leader and ender nine-patches!

I’ve got binding to stitch down on another miniature tonight.
