Since I didn’t finish my to-do list yesterday I really wanted to get it done today. I left my project last night as I was attempting to miter the corners on my zinger. After watching some videos (how did we ever survive without the internet?) I saw that I should be sewing my zinger and the wider border together before I mitered the corners. I got one zinger and a border sewn before I had to put it aside to pick up Margaret.
Margaret had called first thing this morning to see if I could take her to the doctor. She also had some errands to run so I picked her up at noon and we weren’t home again until after three. She did have quite a few stops to make before we got to the doctor’s, but she allowed enough time for us to stop for coffee.
When I got home I headed up to my studio. I was more determined than ever to get the borders done. I was watching the clock because we were going to the movie tonight. All was going well – I had three borders sewn and two corners mitered. When I went to press the fourth border I realized I had sewn it on backwards (wrong side to right side, not right side to right side). I started ripping and when Pat called about supper I told him I’d rather stitch than eat! I did get the border re-stitched and the corners mitered before we left for the movie (I’ll write the review tomorrow).
When we got home from the movie I rushed upstairs to do a final press on the corners and pack up for the bee tomorrow. I cut out the batting for the quilt, as well as some for my Bargello project. I also had to piece the backing for the Mystery Quilt. Since it was late, and my math is never very good, I asked Pat to check my calculations before I did any cutting or sewing.
But my night still wasn’t over. I sent a parcel to Elizabeth over a week ago and it still hasn’t arrived. Online it says the item is at the Post Office and that they should have a parcel card. They haven’t received a card, and their Post Office says they don’t have a parcel. I have sent off a “service ticket” to Canada Post to see what is going on.
Finally, I can head to bed.
