Only one winner!

Elizabeth is the only one who got the correct answer to yesterday’s post – but sadly we can’t afford to take her with us! It was another spur of the moment decision for us. Because of my WestJet credit card I get a yearly return flight anywhere in Canada or the Continental US for $99; WestJet recently changed their rules and I could now take a companion anywhere they fly (Europe costs a bit more than $99 but still a fabulous deal). We haven’t started looking at what we will do over there – The London Eye is a must and we’ll take a side trip to Paris for sure. We enjoyed Ireland so much when we didn’t over plan so we may wing it again this time.

But closer to home it was a sewing bee day. We had our miniature meeting and I had my Itty Bitty Block top to show. I’ve slowed down a bit on how many minis I do. They are fast and I tend to want to make more and more but I really don’t have much use for them. I don’t look like an over-achiever if I keep my show and tell down to one piece. I have a piece partially done for next month and I will start hand quilting my Itty Bitty Sampler as soon as I finish quilting the not-so-Itty-Bitty quilt I’m currently working on.

IMG_7950I did a bit more work with my Blossoms hexie quilt; it’s been a long time since I worked on it and I didn’t have a very successful day. The first block needed to have the centre replaced with a different fabric but I left my seam ripper at home. I set that one aside. I started stitching on the next set and did something wrong because it isn’t lying flat – another one set aside. I finally got it right and have three blocks stitched together – but on closer inspection one of those is wrong. I’m not sure yet whether I’ll decide it is my own creative design or if it will have to be redone. Unless they are stacked one on top of the other I don’t think you can tell.

On the way home from the bee I stopped at our local quilt shop and signed up for another wool felt embroidery class – the Sue Spargo technique. The class is on April 1st and the fool part of that equation has not escaped me!
