A little of everything

First thing this morning I added the sleeve to my Joy project, finished hand-stitching the binding and tah-dah it was done! Although the project was finished I still had to do the documentation for my binder and my website. Once the binder page was done I thought it was probably time to make a trip to Staples to print out the pages that I’ve been collecting since summer. I no longer have a colour printer so I do all my binder printing at Staples.

When I attached my USB thumb drive to my computer so I could transfer my pages, my computer didn’t recognize it. I had a problem syncing my FitBit last week but after I attached the dongle to my computer rather than my USB hub everything worked fine. So I started to investigate what part of my hub wasn’t working – power or USB connector. I took everything downstairs and Pat tried it in his computer; we decided it was the connector cable that didn’t work. Pat dug through some boxes to see if he had another one but he didn’t. I was ready to purchase one but took a look in one of the drawers that I store a few cables in and I found one that works. So, my USB hub is back in operation.

While we were experimenting with the hub Pat suggested I use his corporate account for my Staples printing; he gets a discount when he uses the online copy and print centre. We loaded the pages and Staples will let me know when they are ready. It wasn’t a lot of work to print them off myself, but this way it will just be a quick stop to pick them up. And who doesn’t want to save a little when they can?

I have a parcel ready for the mail tomorrow. I don’t understand why Canada Post loses money; it feels like I spend half my time and money sending out parcels! We don’t have any bus service so the post office is cheaper than a courier service.

It was the afternoon before I got back to my list for the day. Next up was getting the sashing measured and cut for my Itty Bitty blocks. Tomorrow is a Mini Meez meeting and I needed something to work on. I’ll be glad when this project is over; it is hand stitched and I will hand quilt it; had I been using the machine it would have been done by now. There was math involved and I hope I’ve done it right. My rows contain blocks that are 3″ and 4″ finished and I had to get the sashing the right size so the rows would match in length when they are stitched.

My last project for the day was sewing together those black floral blocks from the Guild workshop. I think I have a plan for the layout but I’ve already changed my mind several times this afternoon as I put the blocks together. No matter how I decide to lay it out, it is going to be busy and colourful!
