I noticed on Goodreads that Tracie read this and gave it only one star. I knew I read it but didn’t know how I rated it.

It was on my book list from a previous website update and apparently I liked it. Here is what I said:

I’ve read so many books by this author I’m always afraid that “this one” will be the one that seems too formulaic and disappoints me. Not so with this one. The story concerns the apparent murder of a newborn in an Amish community, and follows the characters from the birth through to the results of the trial. As will all of Jodi Picoult’s books there is the usual twist at the end – I was expecting it, but I had it all wrong.
