I was back at the sewing bee today and it felt good. I even managed to complete a project top. As part of my Library Committee commitments I said I would do a book review each month with a project (or block) from that particular book. If anyone else does this they are eligible for a prize but I, of course, am excluded.
It didn’t take long for me to realize I had picked the wrong book. The project looked relatively easy but when I read the introduction I noticed that she talked a lot about improvisation. I can barely follow a pattern and I’m definitely not ready for improv. But the project I picked had some cutting instructions so I thought I’d be okay – WRONG!
There were cutting instructions for a few of the pieces, but not everything. Basically you looked at the picture and then sewed strips together until you liked what you had. It took four tries to get the “B” right and I didn’t have the letters together until after lunch. The borders went quickly so I was done the top by the end of the day.
With the top finished I have fulfilled my duties for the meeting on Thursday and next month I’ll pick an easier book and pattern.
