Author: Wilbur Smith

I’ve read a number of books by this author and, although I’ve had this for a long time, I hadn’t read it. In my mind the other books I’ve read by him were better than this one. I notice that the book is about in the middle of a 13-book series but without having read any of the others there was no difficulty in following the story.

The ending is very predictable – you know the guy and the girl will fall in love and you know they will survive – but there is quite a lot of excitement along the way. I read it within a few days; the story was engaging and the weather was too hot to do anything but sit in the shade!
