TGIF

Although I’m retired, I still look forward to the weekends. I have at least two days during the week when my time isn’t committed to something, and on those two days I try to take care of all the errands and the work around the house. In theory that means Saturday and Sunday can be relatively work free.

In anticipation of an easy weekend I was very busy today. I was in the studio by seven because I needed to get a card finished and in the mail. It was done by the time Pat got up so, in my mind, perhaps getting two finished was possible.

There was laundry to get done so I put a load in, thinking that by the time I had mowed the grass the load would be ready for the line. There was a lot of dew last night though and Pat thought the grass was too wet to cut. I got a load hung out and another in the washer before heading back to my sewing. Between stages in the sewing I managed to get the last load of laundry done and put out to dry.

When I checked the time it was almost noon and I had to give up on the second card. I headed out to the post office and then did a few errands. In my haste I neglected to take a photo of the card, but hopefully the recipient will send me one – you will won’t you Elizabeth? By the time I got home it was too hot to do much so I finished up my second card. Although it was still too warm, I went out and cut the lawn and the boulevard. I can’t tell you how many times I said to myself, “There’s a cold beer in the fridge for when you finish”.

While I enjoyed the beer on the back deck I almost finished my book. There were only a few pages left when Pat called me for dinner; I’m so grateful for not having to cook that I didn’t worry about finishing.

Now that dinner is over, the dished are cleared away, and the laundry is in I can look forward to a quiet weekend. Except I noticed tonight that I really need to do some vacuuming tomorrow; with my new vacuum though it is an easy job.

I’m having problems with my knitting project and I hope to sort that out this evening.
