I started my day at the bee by cutting the fabric for two card tops. I was all set to stitch up a storm and get both tops done and maybe, if I was lucky, get some work done on my Fat Cats and Dogs.
Although I stitched a number of seams and cut even more fabric pieces, all I had to show at the end of the day was one card top. I don’t usually cut at the bee as I find I pay too much attention to the chatter and not enough attention on the fabric. I don’t know if that was my problem today but when I reached for a specific size of fabric I never seemed to have it, and I ended the day with several other pieces left over. I stitched almost every seam in the top at least twice and some of them were stitched more than that.
I think my biggest problem was I was working from a black and white pattern and, although I had made note of the different fabric colours as I was choosing them, when I put the pieces together I lost track of which of the fabrics went together with which other ones.
Although I won’t be using the same pattern for the second card top, it is from the same series of blocks. I’ve made a few more detailed notes regarding colour on the pattern so hopefully block two will go together with less trouble. I guess I’ll find out; at least when I sew at home I have my computer near at hand so I can see the pattern in colour.
I finished off my crochet project last night. The pattern was my own, based on a photo I saw online. This baby blanket will end up as an item on my sale table later this fall (perhaps the only item if I don’t work a little faster).
