We fully intended to drive out to Lund today for their Shellfish Festival. It was one of those misty West Coast mornings though so we decided to go to a few garage sales instead.
There were two sales in Wildwood so that was our first stop, and boy did we score! We got two nice chairs ($5 each) that will be good for the house concerts. They are very comfortable and Pat has put one at the dining room table and the other at his keyboard; they will be well used between concerts. I have needed to replace the anti-static mat by my computer for several months; we were waiting for them to go on sale at Staples but I found one today for $5. It is just a bit larger than the mat I had, but it still fits perfectly in the space. The final purchase at this sale was a large bookcase for $15; we have moved the books from two bookcases in the spare room into it and I moved the two smaller bookcases up to my studio. I also managed to clear out three bags of books for the Friends of the Library’s next sale.
The second stop was at an estate sale and everything in the house was up for grabs. I picked up a couple of large tins and Pat got a couple of serving bowls as well as an expresso maker. After we had paid up we saw the free table; we picked up two unopened packages (200 each) of paper coffee filters. We’ll never need to buy more, although I did see something the other day about crafts you can make with coffee filters!
Just as we were leaving that sale we noticed the house at the endĀ of the street also had a sale going on. There wasn’t much outside but we were told that the basement also had sale items. There were a lot of clothes, which I never look at, but I did find a medium-sized purse for myself. Because I knew I would be cleaning out books when I got home I didn’t feel too bad about picking up a couple of Kate Morton’s books.
There was one more sale along the way and, although Pat found a lot of old and interesting books, we came away empty-handed.
I’ve got everything rearranged and sorted. I could probably get a couple of placemats quilted, but after sorting through some knitting projects I have the urge to get my needles out.
