What a great weekend. We caught the first ferry out on Saturday morning; there were four in the car I travelled in and five in another vehicle. We all sat together on the ferry ride over and I don’t think we stopped talking and laughing until we arrived home on the afternoon ferry on Monday. There were three quilters from the Island that met us up the mountain, and one quilter from Texada who had been on a month-long road trip that wasn’t quite over yet. The weather was ever-changing, but for the most part it was lovely. The accommodations were wonderful and we ate all weekend!
And what did I accomplish?
From this
to this
I bought the pattern from one of the out-of-town vendors at our quilt show. These sets of placemats will come together when not in use to make a colourful table topper.
This pattern is an original from one of our Guild members. It isn’t very complicated and goes together quickly. It is baby-quilt size but I will add a zinger and some borders to make it a bit larger. I have a home in mind for it.
I wasn’t even looking for a card idea when I came across this pattern for a stuffed Scottie. Our Guild president is turning 65, and she loves Scottie dogs, so I made this for her. I had some trouble with the pattern and didn’t use the green strip in the centre. One side of the dog is pink and the other is green; Sandra’s favourite colours.
I took a 10-inch square class at the Guild a couple of years ago. I cut down the size of the blocks to 9 inches so I could better utilize the fat quarters I received for Mother’s Day. Between the Retreat and the bee today, I have all the blocks sewn. The next big job will be to decide what order to join them in!
I made this doll quilt late one night, and I think you can tell. I’m going to practice a new free-motion design on it!
This pattern was one that I transferred from my iPad to my computer. I will use it for a card; you can probably guess who it is for. I only string-pieced one of the fish as they were too small for the effect to work well.
And last, and tiniest, is my ferry project. Almost all the basting is done. These will be part of a hand-pieced and hand-quilted miniature project.
