Hockey playoffs

A couple of years ago Pat was so annoyed with the Canucks that he cancelled the service that brought us their games. They had either failed to make the playoffs or didn’t get past the first round – again! We switched from a digital service to a satellite dish but we chose not to pick up the games. Now that we are on Netflix the only way to see a game is to head to a restaurant or pub to watch it on the big screen.

A couple of nights ago Pat watched the Canucks defeat the Oilers and keep their hopes alive. Although he could have hooked up his laptop to the television he simply watched the game on his computer. I wasn’t all that interested. Last night we headed out to a restaurant specifically so we could watch the second period of the game.

When we arrived the Canucks were winning 3-0. As we waited for our dinners to arrive I confessed to Pat that I was kind of hoping for Calgary. I said it very quietly though as it was, not surprisingly, a prejudiced crowd. When he asked why, I had two reasons; I have been let down so many times by the Canucks, and being in Calgary when they won their play-off spot was quite exciting.

It was a hard fought battle and I’m thrilled that Calgary came out on top. I’m sorry for Alex, Dave, Elizabeth, Rick and Pat who remain Canuck fans year after year after year. Will has switched his loyalties to the Oilers and I’ve joined forces with Ray in pulling for the Flames.

Go Flames Go!
