I absolutely loved this book. It was so reminiscent of my hike on the West Coast Trail – the heavy pack, the loss of toenails, the miserable weather and the totally awesome experience. I smiled too when she started to downsize her pack. Before we set out on the trail our guide checked our packs to see what should be left behind. The only thing that qualified in my pack was one of my ski poles (why would you need two?). At least one of my fellow hikers had to leave her manicure equipment and make-up behind!
