What now?

I’ve been finding it difficult to work up any enthusiasm for sewing since finishing my quilt show projects. I spent most of the morning working on my Guild reports and organizing my items for sale in the boutique at the show. I don’t have much to sell, but it is another opportunity to clear out items left from the Christmas craft fair.

After lunch I felt I would be wasting the day if I didn’t attempt something on my list of projects. I could work on my Blossom quilt, but I didn’t feel like reverse stitching to remove the centres that I need to replace. I could work on Frozen, but that is appliqué work and can be saved as a Tuesday project. I could work on Elizabeth’s House, but that felt like a big undertaking and best left for another day. I could work on my Farmer’s Wife quilt but that involved too many decisions about fabrics to use and which blocks to make next. I had birthday cards, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter projects on my list as well.

When I was at Christy’s, Taylor was having trouble remembering St. Patrick’s Day; she thought there weren’t any holidays between Valentines and Easter. Although I’ve made projects for all the kids in the past, I thought maybe a new project would be a reminder to them to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. I had enough green and white scraps to work with and have three table toppers pieced. No, they weren’t very difficult but it was a nice way to ease my way back into projects.

I don’t think I can finish my second pair of slippers tonight, but I can get a lot done. I was worried about having enough yarn; when I purchased the new yarn they only had three balls in the same dye lot. I was able to get both booties made out of one ball so I have one each for the sides, which should be plenty.
