Which came first?

Today was a bee day. I decided last night that I would only go in long enough to drop off some quilt photos I had taken for a friend, and to pick up some Guild business papers. Carola decided not to come along, but she came up to the house for Show and Tell before I left. She had a few things that needed to go back to the Center so I took them along. Even with a stop at the Post Office and the liquor store (seniors’ discount day) I was only gone for about an hour.

FlowerThat gave me lots of time to finish the quilting on my Give and Take appliqué project. I was quilting in the borders today and I didn’t have the thread problems I encountered on the weekend. I even added a new motif to my repertoire!

I tried to cut binding to match the two colours of the border fabric but I wasn’t able to figure out how to do it. I decided I’d go with a single colour and had four pieces stitched together for the binding. When I was laying it out to make sure I didn’t have any joins in the corners I noticed I was a bit short. Gasp – I had used all of my fat quarter and didn’t have any more fabric. I went digging to see if I could find a scrap anywhere and came up with some yardage of the same fabric. I’m not sure which came first, the fat quarter or the yardage, but I was glad to have enough to finish with.

I’ll do the hand stitching on it tonight and, except for my big quilt, this will be the last project I need a photo for.
