It doesn’t seem at all strange

Of all my Christmas decorations, I tend to take down Mum’s stitcheries last. I have four beautiful cross stitch pieces, two that are picture size (and framed) and two smaller wall hangings. All of them are very intricately done and must have taken hours and hours. I know I’m not the only one in my family who was on the receiving end of such gifts. How did she manage to get so many done in such a timely manner?

My own Christmas cross stitch is taking hours and hours and for the past two years I’ve hoped to have it done in a timely manner. Since that didn’t happen (again) in 2014, this year my Advent calendar has become the focus of my Sunday hand stitching. There is a winter storm raging outside (no snow, just wind and rain) and I’m snug and warm in my sewing room listening to Randy Bachman’s Vinyl Tap.

Does it feel strange to be working on Christmas projects less than two weeks after Christmas? No, not at all!
