Every day since the New Year I’ve been putting away Christmas decorations. Each year I’m able to combine a few boxes and repack items so they require just a little less space. Most have their own boxes and I know where they get stored; some in the shop, some in the hall closet and some in the bedroom closet. Today as I was putting away the linens in the hall closet I decided a clean out was needed. I moved a lot of old pillowcases up to my sewing room; I stuff my fabric and thread scraps in them and when they are full they get stitched closed and donated to the SPCA. I also set aside a box of canning jars for the economy shop; I kept one box for myself just in case. That left room to do a bit of rearranging and tidying; Pat’s comment when he saw it was that we had lots more room to store things! Not really my goal, but I’m sure the space will get used.
I’ve done a bit of sewing the past couple of days. They were all small projects and it is nice to have a start and a finish all in one day. I also finished loads and loads of laundry (I’ve been doing laundry since yesterday) and I think we’re ready for our next house guests. I’m not sure if that will be in January when Pat brings a performer to town or if it will be February for our next house concert.
Cleaning up my sewing rooms has been a bit slower than I would like. I cleared out the playroom before our company arrived; everything that wasn’t a toy, game or puzzle moved into the sewing side of my studio. I’ve done a bit of tidying in the playroom each time I wait for the iron to heat up but I think between now and dinner I will really concentrate on getting things on both sides of the hallway back in order.
