Yesterday was the BOND Christmas dinner and I was exhausted by the time I got home. I started loading groceries into my car around 8:30 and I was peeling potatoes by nine. I met the newest BOND volunteer; Rachel was a BOND mum earlier this year. It took me almost half the morning to place her in the program’s revolving door but I finally did it. She is very capable and is a great addition. There were a few other volunteers helping get the meal ready; some were familiar faces from past years. By the time the last of the dishes were done it was 3:30 and I’d barely sat down all day.
I was awake early this morning and, since the plumber was coming at nine, I got busy doing some cleaning before I lost the hot water. Our hot water tank was getting old and we were afraid at some point it would give way and we’d have a mess. We’ve replaced it with a tankless system which apparently is more efficient.
Since I had a long morning I did up my Day 8 block from the 12 Days of Christmas and then started making my way through the fabric scraps that were on my cutting table. I still have a small pile to take care of but I can see patches of the table top for the first time in a long while. I need another bin to store some of the larger fabric scraps. Yes, if I finished a project or two I could probably free up a bin! I went out after lunch to do a few errands and I even managed to squeeze in a little Christmas shopping.
I have friends dropping by this afternoon to borrow my big coffee pot for a Solstice party this weekend so a nap is probably not a good idea. I’ll read until they come and as soon as they leave I’m going to get an early start on my knitting.
