Christmas all over again

Our two boxes of Christmas goodies arrived on the bus today. Because we were so limited to space when we traveled home, and because our family was so generous, we had to ship many of our treasures. All arrived safely and there were even a few extras tucked in – my pile of books has increased again just when I was down to two in my stack. I brought back a lot of fabric scraps from Mum’s fabric so I’ll have to dedicate some time to my scrap bin (and now my scrap box).

I was at the Rec Center by nine for my drop-in yoga class. I even set the alarm so I’d be up in time. When I arrived at the Admissions desk to swipe my card I noticed a sign saying the class started January 12. However there were several women with mats and blocks heading up to the room, so I stood in line to ask about the class. The woman behind the counter really wasn’t sure so I asked if I could go up and see before swiping my card. They were fine with that but I didn’t get very far up the stairs when all the women were coming down. I guess that part of my routine will have to wait another week.

Today was a Red Cross day, and Margaret was back to assist me. I picked her up early as she had some shopping she wanted to do. She was quite distracted when she got into the car and I soon found out why. She had a call first thing this morning saying that her friend Millie wasn’t doing very well. Then, just before I arrived, she had a call saying that Millie had passed away. After our shift was over I took Margaret to the ECU to pick up a photo of Millie that Margaret didn’t want to lose. As it turned out they had a full box of Millie’s personal items that I was able to bring back to Margaret’s. She will go through the box over the next few days and sort out what is to be done with everything.

Tonight is our first Guild Meeting at the Seniors’ Center. I think I’m all organized and have my paperwork done – this is only the second meeting I’ve had to do alone. I’m looking forward to getting a new Cookie Tin tonight. Not that I don’t have plenty of projects of my own to work on, but a new Cookie Tin is always fun to open.
