The book had Regan’s name in it; I see on Goodreads that she won it. The novel’s narrator is a young man with schizophrenia who was involved, in a small way, in the death of his brother several years earlier. As he struggles to gain independence he is in and out of care. His story is often rambling and moving between past and present, but it is never hard to follow.
