I made a list

50 DoneWhen I came upstairs to sew this morning I decided to make a list of all the things I need to get done before we leave for Vancouver next week. At the top of the list was the 50th block for my Farmer’s Wife quilt. I don’t know why 50 seems like such a milestone; I’m not even half done yet. By noon the block was done, I had a photo and I’d already moved on to contemplating what colour I should use for the sashing and cornerstones.

Second on the list were the bags for the Days for Girls kits. It isn’t difficult sewing, but it is just a bit boring. I have all but four finished though so I feel good about that. While I was sewing the bags my mind wandered and I realized I won’t be at the first Guild meeting of the new season; I’ll be boarding a plane to Toronto about the time the meeting starts. I’ve done a couple of special-request reports during the summer, but I’ll have to do my monthly report so I can hand it in before I leave. Fortunately there hasn’t been any activity during the summer, but June will be included in the report and it was a busy month with everyone getting their receipts in so they could be reimbursed before September. So that task was added to the list.

The third thing on the list is getting the hexagons for my Blossom quilt packaged for traveling. I thought I had them all basted, but when I was sorting through them I decided to change the centre colour for a few of the blossoms. I have them cut out so I just need to baste about ten more. After that I need to decide on the layout; it may be that I’ll have too many of a specific colour and I’ll have to do a few more.

And last, but not least, I have a lot of cards to get done and in the mail before I leave. I don’t expect to sew when Dylan and Taylor are here so I’ll get as many done as I can before Tuesday and the rest will have to be late. I’ve already decided there won’t be time for the bee on Tuesday; I’ll stop in for some blog photos and to drop off my reports and bags but I won’t stay. Wednesday I have reserved for cleaning up my messes and getting ready for the kids.

We’re out for an evening of music tonight. The year we moved to Powell River we attended an afternoon and evening concert in a beautiful yard not far from home. By the next year the couple who owned the home had separated and there were no more concerts planned. But the concert is on again this year; Jill Barber is the headliner and there will also be several local performers. The weather has cooperated and it should be a lovely evening under the stars.
