Very little accomplished

Wednesday is usually a day when I get things done – a card, a Farmer’s Wife block and perhaps a bit of something else. I feel like I frittered the day away, but I guess that is okay occasionally.

Yesterday I started to prepare my report for the CQA magazine. I had managed to whittle the report down to the 800 character maximum I am allowed, but I can only submit one photo. We have three juniors so I thought a collage was the way to go. None of my photo software would make a collage so I ended up purchasing one called iCollage. It did the trick and I got it all sent off this morning.

Next I did the quilting on a larger card project. I had the binding cut and stitched together but I knew I wouldn’t have time to stitch it on before my afternoon engagement. But there was still some time to kill so I made an embroidered label for the card. The embroidery on Ruby is so easy I don’t know why I waited so long to use it. I’ve started saving the sentiments (Happy Birthday, Love Mum, etc.) so they will be easy to recall for other projects.

Carola and I planned a shopping trip this afternoon. I wanted to pick some fat quarters of various colours to audition for the sashing and cornerstones on my Farmer’s Wife quilt. I picked out three sets of colours and I’ll try to figure out which pair I like best. The shop has a 20% off sale later in the month and I want to be prepared for some quick shopping as Dylan and Taylor will be here that week.

I had a look around while Carola finished her shopping and I think I have picked out a backing for my Hubble quilt. And at the last minute I picked up a pattern I’ve had my eye on – a paper-pieced Christmas cactus. There was only one left and I was afraid it would be gone if I waited for the sale.

It’s been a cloudy, rainy off-and-on day and even though I don’t need to beat the heat I think I’ll retire to the basement for some knitting.
