A love/hate thing

I started my morning by adding the embellishments to one of my cards. I was working with invisible thread and, while I like the finished look, it is a pain to work with. It is a little like sewing with a strand of hair. When you cut a piece off the spool you really need to hang on to it because if you drop it you’ll never find it again (did that more than once). It is difficult to tie a knot in, without knotting up the entire piece of thread (did that). It is hard to keep it from pulling out of the eye of the needle when you are sewing (been there and so done that)! But for sewing jewelry and beads onto fabric the finished look is so much better than colored thread, even the fine stuff I use for hand appliqué. I’ll be using a lot of it in My Crazy Life so I need to work on the “love” part of that relationship.

Pat and I worked in the yard until the rain sprinkles stopped us. I was picking up the piles of weeds that Pat had previously dug out while Pat moved the full bags to the driveway to wait for a trip to the dump. We have to get the weeds and bags picked up before the power washing starts on Monday.

Carola and I had planned a trip to Galena Bay for Friday but we decided to go this afternoon instead. I got fabric for a new project, fabric to finish off my One Block Wonder, two more blocks in my Block of the Month, and a second ruler stand. Our next stop was the $ store where I got a couple of baskets for sorting cut scraps into. I have several drawers for my squares, bricks and strings but I needed an open basket to store them as I cut them (the drawers are in a different room from my scrap pile and my cutting board). I keep trying to find methods to get these bits and pieces in order but so far it is a losing battle.

My afghan project is moving along. I’m anxious to get it done as you don’t see the Jacob’s Ladder stitch until the very end. Good thing we still have several episodes of The Shield left!
