Is the ferry here yet?

Pat woke me up at 9:30 this morning just to be sure I was okay. Neither one of us remembers the last time I slept so late. I guess I needed it, although I doubt I’ll stay up any later than usual tonight because of it.

We were back working in the yard this morning. Our neighbours gave us a bucket of day lilies and Pat wanted to get them into the ground. The bed he wanted them in hadn’t been weeded yet so Pat dug the soil and I pulled the weeds. Because he was going down deep we managed to get some nasty roots out of the soil. It probably won’t equate to less weeds later, but it feels good if you can pull something out right to the tip of the root.

When I volunteered to spend time helping Pat in the yard I said I was only available in the mornings, and only until the noon ferry docked. In spite of our later start today, it seemed like the noon ferry would never get here. We’ve made arrangements to have someone come in and do some power washing for us. Although we both like doing it, our power washer has quit working and it is expensive to get a good one. Having it done means it will be finished in one day, as opposed to when we power washed the fence and it took all summer!

I finished two Farmer’s Wife blocks today and, hopefully, will get the binding done on my card project. I’m doing a bit of clean-up as I wait for the iron to heat (or if I need something and it is buried). Perhaps tomorrow I’ll have time for a proper clean before I restart my public life on Tuesday.
