It was supposed to be a UFO Weekend but there was a mix-up in the booking and we only had a day. There was never any doubt that I’d work on my One Block Wonder project. I had a book from the Guild library, although it wasn’t the same one as we used when I took the class last year, and neither of the class instructors were in the hall today.
The fabric I picked really didn’t work well for the project and I had trouble with the original block arrangement. Pat helped me come up with this plan many, many months ago.
I always intended to incorporate some cubes into the piece and that is what I started with today. By lunch my cubes were done and I started to work on the placement. I had lots of suggestions from one of our Guild members and we tried a lot of variations.
I ended up with this piece. Neither Pat nor I are sure we like the cubes; I think I need to find fabrics colours that go a bit better with the fabric in the rest of the piece. My first thought was that “it is what it is”, but since there really is no big rush to finish it up I may play around a bit more with those cubes.
The big surprise is that I think I actually like it!
