Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow?
Can you sling them over your shoulder like a Continental soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

I couldn’t help thinking about this little verse as I quilted today. Yes, quilting can sometimes be a mindless act. What made me think of it was when I quilted the corners of the quilt I had the opposite corner flung over my shoulder. Was it Dad or Mum who quoted this verse when we were growing up?

I’ve spent most of the day quilting. I’ve almost finished outlining the blocks and getting the edges stitched down. I’d like to be able to finish that part today, but our friend Trent is playing at one of the local restaurants tonight so we’re going out for dinner. Probably just as well I stop now. I’ll be able to start with something easy in the morning before I launch into the free-motion sections.
