After seeing the movie and comparing it to what I had heard in radio interviews, I still wanted to read the book. I’m glad I did. While the movie focuses on Philomena’s search for her son, the book focuses on the life of Anthony Lee after his adoption and his own search for his mother. There was only one slight discrepancy I noticed. In the movie the impression is given that his adopted sister wasn’t interested in looking for their mothers. In the book the sister made the first trip to Ireland with Anthony. She also visited his grave in Ireland and, at the close of the book, was beginning a search for her own mother.
