Company’s coming

I headed down the hill this morning to enjoy a visit with Carola. She is recently returned from a road trip to Las Vegas. She wasn’t gambling; she and her travelling companions were quilt store shopping. And what a lovely bunch of fabrics she brought home with her. Carola is trained as a textile artist and her eye for colour is amazing. I know where I’ll go the next time I need help planning a quilt. She has several bags of fabrics and, as we were looking at her new stash, she would remember a fabric from one of her bags. When she pulled it out the two fabrics would go together perfectly. She had also purchased several new books – I hope I didn’t drip as I drooled over them!

I’ve started free motion quilting on my community quilt. The plan was for a circle-in-a-circle pattern but it is turning out more like a loop-within-a-loop. There is a long way to go, but I think overall it will work out.

Our friend Heather is coming for dinner and to spend the night. My kids will always remember Heather as the woman who put flowers in her salads. She is here working for a few days but she has the evening off. Pat saw her last year when he went to Vancouver for her 70th birthday. I haven’t seen her in quite some time. Having company always prompts a clean, and, with the exception of a bit of laundry to finish, I think I’m ready for her.
