A start and a finish

Slice5I spent the morning in my studio working on The Slice! box. The theme for the box was the Bra. The blocks that were already done were very creative and I was at a loss as to what I could do. Elizabeth steered me in the right direction by pointing out there were lots of images on the internet that I could copy a pattern from. It’s true, everything really is on the internet! If I’m unlucky enough to win this particular box back, I know who I will gift the project to.

The scrap demo at the Guild last night gave me a few ideas, but not as many as I had hoped for. I wanted patterns that used specific-sized squares but, apparently, a scrappy quilt isn’t necessarily made from scraps of leftover fabric. In many cases, the quilts on display were very colour coordinated. Perhaps I just don’t have enough scraps yet. I saw a demo for the Mile-A-Minute  and Film at Five quilts, and they are doable with the scraps I have. So, while I put away fabric from my bra block, I cut and sorted a few of the scraps in my basket. It will take forever to get through that basket, but if I do a bit at a time I might be able to keep up.

I have a few updates to do for the Guild blog and then I’m going to start sewing the binding on one of the Community Quilts I brought home last week.
