The race is on

I spent half the morning in my studio working to get a project travel-ready (the other half was spent in my pyjamas with my iPad). When I travel I like to have a couple of projects to work on. I’m quilting a project and, if I get far enough along, I’ll be able to stitch the binding down during my travels. I also want to start another pair of socks for Pat (we bought some wool in Victoria for them). I use the invisible cast-on method and I’m still not that comfortable with it. I need to sit in front of my computer watching the videos and checking the tutorial photos. If I can get the stitches on I can also take those along to work at. I have been warned by both Dylan and his Mum that they have some mending waiting for me when I get there!

I was at a Memorial service this afternoon for one of our Guild members. Norma lived in the apartments just behind us and I drove her to several Guild events. The minister started by saying Norma had always said no one would come to a service for her, but there were over twenty quilters in attendance as well as a number of other friends. Norma was born, and lived all her life, in Powell River.  I had a chance to sit with Norma at the close of our last quilt show and she had some wonderful stories to tell about Powell River in the early days. She said she kept thinking she should be writing some of the stories down – I hope she was able to do that.

I finished off my donation hat and delivered it to the collection depot today. Now, back to my quilting.
