This Crafters Fabric and Supply Sale has been advertised for ages, and I have looked forward to it from the time it was first announced. Tables were available for $10 if you wanted to sell some of your stash; finished projects weren’t for sale, it was strictly meant for supplies and half-finished projects. Although I have enough wool, fabric and patterns I could have set up a pretty good table, I was there to shop!

Many of the sellers were members of the Guild so it was lovely to stop by their tables, see what they had to offer, and have a bit of a chat. It was busy though so the chatting was kept to a minimum – mostly while I paid for my purchases. What did I get?

I have been keeping my eye out for a Dresden Plate ruler. Since I only have a couple of places to look I can keep my eyes closed most of the time (just kidding)! Although the seller said this isn’t a Dresden Plate template, for the project I have in my mind this will work. It wasn’t cheap but it came with half a dozen quilting stencils as well.

I purchased a bag of scraps from one of our Guild members. She is a terrific quilter and she brings us many ideas and techniques. Along with the scraps there were some orphan blocks. Darlene is a regular at the Tuesday bee so I can ask her for help if I decide to do something with them. In the meantime they are hanging on my design wall. I’ve never tried the iron-on template, although I know some of our members used it when we did a Watercolour project. I say “we”, but mine is still sitting in a bag!

I picked up several flannel scraps and small pieces. I hope one day to make a rag quilt and I think flannel is what I’d use. I have flannel of my own to add and, eventually, it could be a community quilt.

Another bag of goodies – all batik strips. Most Guild members use these for a Wonky Log Cabin. We have a Log Cabin class in this year’s Guild agenda so I hope I can use these scraps. I also purchased some fat quarters from Sharon. Yes, there are a couple of balls of wool as well. I’ve seen an afghan made with strips of eyelash wool running through it. Only $1 a ball and they will fit into my wool bins very easily!

This bag of scraps may have been a mistake! I thought I was getting a bag of blocks that all matched and, I guess I did. I really need to take Shawn to task though for hiding a One Block Wonder project in it! There are an assortment of blocks that will go together nicely; I’ll need to make an extra block or two but with some sashing and a border they will make a nice community quilt. The three block patterns were part of a Shop Hop based on houses. I think a couple of the orphan blocks are Buggy Barn so I may be able to find a pattern and finish something with them. And there is a lovely, almost-finished applique block. Not bad for $7!

I’ve been wanting to make an apron for BOND and a pattern was the one thing I was looking for at the sale. Shawn is a long-arm quilter and her thread was on at a very special price!.

And last, but not least, I found a thread holder. It is meant to mount on the wall, but wall space in my studio is scarce so for now I’ve attached it (sideways) to a shelf on my computer desk. It will eventually get a more permanent home but I want to try it out in a few different locations.
