It took longer than I expected, but I finished the borders on my baby quilt today. Actually, there is nothing baby about this quilt – it is huge! I’m surprised it has taken me such a short time to put together. I guess the quick sewing time is the result of the right pattern, and fabrics that go together no matter what pieces are touching.
I have been thinking that this may be too big a gift to give to Trent and Deidre. We know them quite well, but I really expected this quilt to be much smaller. I have a knitted baby blanket that would be just fine as a gift. I could finish this off for Alex and the one I have started for him could be reassigned to Dylan. Although it is a long way from being done, I don’t think I’m going to like the end results of the quilt I have started for Dylan. If I come across something I like better for Dylan, the one I have started for him can become my Community Quilt for the year.
In the end I have decided to stick with my original plan. I like to think of the person the quilt is for while I’m sewing it and changing plans now might throw off the karma!
