Pat and I walked to the terminal this morning and caught the first ferry to Comox. It was a lovely, sunny day but a bit breezy. We tried to find a place on the ferry deck but it was either out of the wind and too cool, or sunny and too windy. Our seats inside were just right though and we both did a bit of reading.
Peggy and Bill met us at the Comox terminal and drove us out to their farm, about halfway between Comox and Campbell River. We had a good visit and a walk around their beautiful yard and the pastures. They are currently hosting 21 water buffalo for a neighbour. The water buffalo keep the grass in the pasture under control. Even though Bill doesn’t “have” any responsibility for them, I think he enjoys keeping his eye on them. Bill had some great stories and they often involved bringing home livestock of one sort or another and then convincing Peggy he “had a plan”.
They took us to a lovely spot for lunch – off the beaten path and you would never guess from the road signage how lovely it is. We ate on the deck, right on the edge of the ocean. Besides being a lovely view, it was a great meal. It took a bit of explaining to get me oriented to where we were sitting in relation to Powell River, but once they told me where Harwood was I was okay.
After lunch we drove into Campbell River for an open house. Bill and Peggy wanted to see this particular home and, because of Peggy’s real estate background, she knew the agents. It was a lovely place but I understand there was already an accepted offer in place.
The trip home was a repeat of the trip over, except a bit warmer. I got more reading done and I think I’ll be able to finish my book before it is due back at the library. I don’t know how the TV series is going, but the book has me on the edge of my seat. I’m glad I don’t have to wait a week between episodes!
I have a sore shoulder tonight. I didn’t notice it until we sat down for supper but it was quite achy. I expect it has something to do with carrying that big book around in my bag all day!
