Are we having fun yet?

Earlier in the week I planned to go out with the hiking club today. On Sunday Pat and I took a drive to find the meeting spot and, although there were several places that looked like they might be right, I wasn’t confident I would know where to go. Pat mentioned that Geoff and Brenda might be interested in the Wednesday group so I checked with them. Brenda had to work but Geoff and I decided to go, depending on the weather. Yesterday we decided to stay home; Geoff had something going on this afternoon and the weather wasn’t very promising.

I imagined how much quilting I would get done today (maybe I even imagined finishing). When the alarm went off at 4 AM I woke up long enough to make sure Pat was up and then I went back to bed. I didn’t sleep late, but I didn’t get that extra three hours of sewing in.

I worked on cards for most of the morning, and then turned my attention to free-motion quilting. From a distance (or maybe it is just my poor eyesight) what I’ve done looks okay. I’m using loops this time and I’m not very good about getting them evenly spaced. I’ll definitely have some questions for Stacia and Deloise when I see them. I don’t enjoy free-motion quilting. I thought I did when I did the placemats, but doing a quilt is a whole lot harder! I’ll power on though and get it done so I can move on to something else.

I’m working on a knitted baby blanket in the evenings when I have the energy. I’ve made this particular pattern several times (Christopher Gustafson, Kathryn, and Will come to mind) but I’m having problems this time. My first set of needles were smaller than the pattern called for but I couldn’t find the correct size. I wasn’t happy with the results so I dug a little deeper and found the right size. Now that I’ve done the center of the pattern the holes (think lace) don’t really show. I’ll move to a size larger needle and try it again. I thought the knitted blanket would be a quicker option than a baby quilt, but I’m doubting that now!
