I was slow getting going this morning and, once I got started, it didn’t go very well. I was enjoying my coffee, checking e-mail and Facebook, and generally lounging around when I realized it was almost 9:30 and I had a BOND lunch to get ready for. As I was hurrying to get dressed the pants I wanted to wear didn’t seem to be hanging in the closet. Where could they be? I checked the laundry hamper, although I was quite certain they had been washed last week. When they weren’t there, I did another check through the closet to no avail. Then I remembered that not all of the things I hung out to dry last week were actually dry when I brought them in and I had put a load in the drier. That’s where I found my pants (and a few other things) and I was ready to go.
Well, not quite. I still hadn’t had breakfast. I had some fresh pineapple chunks in the fridge so I added a slice of cheese and a Ryvita and called it breakfast. Off I went to load up the car. I knew I had two envelopes for the mail, but when I got in the car and went to set them aside all I could find was one. Where did I drop the second one? I found it in the driveway and was finally on my way.
I made spaghetti at BOND and, by lunchtime, I had sauce splatters all over the kitchen and myself. I also made a Caesar Salad and served garlic bread and it was all well received. We had a very poor turnout, and I put a large container of spaghetti and sauce in the freezer for another day. There were still four containers that went home with the ladies, plus some veggies and fruit. Needless to say the clean up took longer than usual.
I brought the change table home again for a few additional adjustments. I’ll try to get it finished by Thursday so I can return it to the BOND cupboard when I’m at the hospital for my Red Cross shift.
Good news (fingers crossed) on the BOND volunteer front. They are checking references for a new volunteer and I have no doubt she will have good ones. This is the woman I met several months ago at a birthday party. I’m not sure if Marianne will come back – she’s having a difficult time adjusting to her new circumstances. If Susan does come on board I hope to be training her at my next lunch and then she’ll be able to fill in while I’m traveling.
We had a call from our accountant’s office yesterday advising us that they needed our electronic signatures on a few documents. She also gave us the most unwelcome news of what we owed the government. My bill was more than double what I paid last year so we had a few questions for them today. Apparently my investments had a good year and I really did owe that much money!
With the taxes paid I feel like I deserve a reward. I think I’ll start a new knitting project tonight.
