House Concert – Take Two

Thursday, April 11, 2013

The house concert went very well last night even though we didn’t manage a full house. The artists were happy and said it was their largest crowd in the series. We spent a lazy morning chatting about so many things – politics, books, and of course music. David Bradstreet’s father was the President of Random House Canada; Jane Sibbery is godmother to one of his children. How could I not be impressed!

They headed out for the noon ferry and I left about the same time for my Red Cross shift. It was very busy in the Loan Cupboard today, for both lending and returns. There is still no word on the internet connection for the inventory, although I understand the funding request is coming up at the Auxiliary meeting tonight. I should go to support the motion, but we have other plans for the night.

When I got home from my shift Pat’s friend Phil was here. He and Pat were playing some music and then one thing led to another and Phil invited us to visit his Savory Island home. Count me in! Next thing we know he’s on the phone with another friend and Phil thinks the three of them (Phil, his friend, and Pat) should plan a month of playing music in Italy. I’m not sure how realistic that is, but I’ve signed on as a roadie just in case it works out!

Another house concert is in our plan for tonight. The nice thing about this is we aren’t hosting it. We’ll see Shari Ulrich – I’m not a fan, but I think that is because I’ve never really heard her. I’ve heard of her, but I don’t know her music or even the music of the groups she’s been in. I guess she was part of that “lost generation” when I was in the North.
