Happy day

This was a bee day and, for the first time in a long time, I was responsible for finding my own project to work on. What to do? Will I work on my One Block Wonder? No, I need to learn how to make some cubes first. Will I work on my 10” Square quilt? No, I have most of the blocks finished and the next step will need Pat’s help in how best to arrange them. Will I start a new project? Don’t you dare!

I picked a project that I started some time ago. It is a pattern I found online, and it may have been a quilt-along that I never kept up with. All the cutting was done and there was just enough sewing to do that it took me the whole day. Next step will be to square the blocks and then I can start positioning them. There is a specific order to this pattern so I can do the placement on my own.

A fellow quilter is also a rug hooker and she brought her three bins of equipment today to give me a lesson. I thought she might bring it because we had been talking about it, although we hadn’t actually set a date. I went to grab my rug hooking project just before I left this morning but I couldn’t find it. Hmm, I wonder where I put it when I cleaned up.

I have been looking for a particular ruler and cutting board for months. I always carried it in my sewing machine case and, when I couldn’t find it, I thought I had left it at the bee. I looked for it the next few weeks, and I looked in the Guild storage cupboard. I also looked in the cupboard that some of the other quilting groups use and didn’t have any luck. Since neither one had my name on them I accepted that I had lost them. I was packing up my sewing machine today and one of the inside padding pieces came out. In behind it was my ruler and cutting board! I’ve managed without it all this time, but I’m so glad the mystery is solved.

I have a new ball of yarn from our Victoria trip so I think I’ll work on a scarf tonight. I’ll probably still need a scarf for my Saskatchewan trip!
