Margaret’s Quilt

This Disappearing Nine Patch was a Timberlane Quilt Guild workshop. It was meant as a house-warming gift for Margaret when she moved into an assisted living suite. Margaret’s ill health prevented that move and I was unable to give her the quilt.

It is machine quilted with a stitch-in-the-ditch technique. It took me three hours to tie in all the ends. After it was finished, I learned from a fellow quilter that Ruby has a setting that will knot as well as cut the ends!

I wanted to show what a traditional nine patch block looked like so I added it to the back of the quilt. I didn’t have any of the pink material left, but I found a similar pink.

I used flannel as a backing for the quilt and it feels very soft and warm. I’ll keep the quilt for myself, and think of Margaret whenever I’m cuddled beneath it.
